Poetry of the day

Treacheries , ageing

Among the crueler disfavours

now, is the treachery of songs:

songs that fill the days now

are not for the likes of me .

Once they gave solace

and even solutions , sometimes.

Now they still sing , but sing

still of that thin gruel of youth ,

not of what I face each day .

Perhaps it is the marketplace ,

never imaginative enough ;

perhaps it is the poets`

and profiteers` tradition ,

weaned on low courage .
